Review of Christmas market 2011

Mayor Bernd Saxe opened the 40th Christmas market in front of more than 150 guests. It is a special activity of the German Women and Culture Association e.V., Lübeck group, and known as a craftspersons' Christmas market far beyond Lübeck's borders.

Each year the market draws more than 55,000 visitors from all over the world and since 1968 has taken place in the Hospital of the Holy Spirit. This wonderful historic property from the 13th century gives this Christmas market a unique ambience.

There, where once until the middle of the 20th century seniors were still living in the tiny wooden cabins in the large Hospital hall, today the crowd of visitors flock to wonder at exquisite handicraft products.
